Job Purpose:

The Estimator is responsible for reviewing enquiries, specifications, drawings and other project information to prepare accurate and competitive quotations.

The role works closely with customers and internal teams to confirm requirements, resolve information gaps and ensure proposed solutions are technically appropriate, manufacturable and commercially viable.

The Estimator also supports the Estimating Manager and Regional Sales Managers, maintains accurate quotation records and develops a strong working knowledge of Forza’s products and applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate, complete and timely quotations by reviewing customer enquiries, drawings, specifications, schedules and other project information.
• Identify missing, unclear or conflicting information and liaise with customers and relevant Forza colleagues to confirm the scope, assumptions, exclusions and technical requirements.
• Ensure quotations, revisions and supporting information are returned within agreed deadlines, escalating any risks to delivery or accuracy promptly.
• Maintain the quotation log and relevant systems so that records, status updates, supporting documents and customer information are accurate and up to date.
• Work closely with Sales, Technical, Production Control and Manufacturing to ensure proposed products and solutions are practical, compliant, manufacturable and commercially viable.
• Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of Forza’s products, applications and estimating methods, providing technical assistance and clarification when required.
• Support Regional Sales Managers with pricing, quotation revisions, project queries and customer requirements.
• Attend internal, customer and online meetings as required, communicating regularly with the Estimating Manager on workload, priorities, progress and any issues requiring support.
• Work flexibly as part of the wider team, sharing workload fairly and supporting colleagues to achieve common business goals.
• Contribute to special projects, process improvements and any other reasonable duties required to meet the needs of the business.
• Comply with company policies, procedures and reporting requirements, including absence notification procedures.

Experience:

• Experience preparing estimates, quotations or tenders within a manufacturing, construction, joinery, doorset or building-products environment is desirable.
• Experience interpreting technical drawings, specifications, schedules and customer requirements.
• Experience liaising with customers and cross-functional teams to obtain information and resolve technical or commercial queries.
• Experience managing multiple enquiries and priorities while working to demanding deadlines.
• Experience using estimating, CRM, ERP or other business systems would be an advantage.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong numerical ability, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications and translate them into clear quotation requirements.
• Good commercial awareness, with the ability to balance accuracy, competitiveness, risk and customer needs.
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisation, prioritisation and time-management skills.
• Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn and use company systems effectively.
• A collaborative, proactive and flexible approach, with a willingness to take ownership and support the wider team.
• A relevant estimating, technical, construction or manufacturing qualification would be advantageous.

Outcomes:

This role will be measured by:

• Accurate and complete quotations are produced with minimal errors, omissions or avoidable rework.
• Quotations and revisions are issued within agreed customer and business deadlines.
• Quotation logs, systems and supporting records remain current, clear and auditable.
• Assumptions, exclusions, technical requirements and commercial risks are identified and communicated clearly.
• Customer and internal queries are resolved promptly through effective collaboration and communication.
• Product and technical knowledge is continually developed and applied to improve the quality of quotations and support provided.
• The role contributes positively to quotation conversion, margin protection, customer satisfaction and the performance of the Estimating team.
