Forza - Defining Doors

Environmental Product Declarations (EPD)

PIONEERING VERIFIED EPDs IN UK TIMBER DOOR MANUFACTURING

As the first UK timber door supplier to publish verified EPDs, we're not just leading in manufacturing—we're shaping a sustainable future. Our goal? Carbon neutrality before 2050. We view our current carbon footprint as a starting point, mapping our journey towards carbon neutrality.

"At Forza, sustainability isn't just a goal; it's the foundation of our future. By pioneering EPDs in our market, we're committing to our sustainability mission. Our journey to net zero is a marathon, not a sprint."

WILL HUNNAM, FORZA MD

UNDERSTANDING ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCT DECLARATIONS (EPDs)

EPDs are standardised documents that provide transparent, objective information about a product's environmental impact throughout its lifecycle. Like nutrition labels on food, EPDs detail ecological footprints, enabling informed decision-making for consumers and businesses.

THIRD-PARTY VERIFICATION

While EPDs can be self-published or verified by third parties, we prioritised transparency and data integrity. Therefore, our EPDs undergo rigorous third-party verification, setting us apart in the market. This process ensures you receive reliable environmental impact information, unlike potentially biased or inaccurate unverified EPDs.

IN CONVERSATION WITH OVERBURY

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Bespoke Products and EPDs

Our EPDs are designed to be informative and flexible, accommodating our bespoke door manufacturing. They're based on our most common door and frame sizes and styles, considering various data points like average travel for installation and tool energy use. Because of this, the environmental impact, measured in KG/CO2 doesn't change much if, for example, the door size or finish changes.

Ironmongery Exclusion

Due to the vast variety of ironmongery options, we've excluded them from our EPDs. To calculate the environmental impact combine your chosen architectural ironmongery products' EPDs with Forza's EPDs.

Separate Door and Frame EPDs

We have separate frame and door EPDs to allow for flexibility when using alternative frame materials or existing frames.

EPD Coverage

Our EPDs currently don't cover:

  • FD90-120
  • Laminate finishes
  • fire/acoustic cores
  • factory-sprayed finishes
  • Firescreens/Imola

EPD Validity

EPDs require auditing every five years. As we implement carbon efficiencies (e.g., solar panels), we anticipate improved EPD figures with each audit, progressing towards our carbon-neutral goal.
